France Day 3: Versailles, Paris
Versailles
I have to say, I hated that they had large display cases [of things unrelated to Versailles] set up through the middle of the Hall of Mirrors. It was impossible to get a good photo of the entire hall without all of the eye sores. Not cool.
Marie-Antoinette's bed. It looks like the bed is professionally lit, but that is all ambient light coming through the windows. And gold.
I was completely overwhelmed. Movies [and photos, I'm afraid] don't do the grounds justice. They seem to go on forever. I couldn't imagine being Louis XIV and owning this - stepping out there alone if I wanted. The space is staggering.
Marie-Antoinette's Estate
Petit Trianon
French Pavilion
The Queen's Theatre and the Belvedere
The Queen's Hamlet
Temple of Love
The Queen's House
I could have stayed there all day. Alas, we needed to get back to Paris to see Notre Dame and Shakespeare & Co before dark.
Ile Saint Louis
Berthillon Glaces et Sorbets
[We need better looking water fountains in the states.]

France Day 2: Paris
Starting today, you'll probably begin to notice: David and I don't take relaxing vacations. We push ourselves to our limits and do everything possible. I love that.
Pain & Chocolat for petit dejeuner
Fleuriste Daniel Guittat
Les Invalides
Jardin des Tuileries
Palais du Louvre
On the left: Napoleon III apartments were stunning. On the right - a special painting to me. I noticed it on my first trip in 1999, then found it again on my second in 2001 and purchased a print. The print now hangs next to our bed, and has kept with me for the past 10 years.
L'Ete en Pente Douce
Montmartre
Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, and an American band performing.
Parc des Buttes Chaumont
