By the time this posts, I'll either be finishing up photographing my first international wedding, or I'll be sleeping it off. Yes! We're in Thailand! We'll be back in a few days, and I look forward to sharing our latest adventure. Wish me luck traveling with my cameras and film. I may be a bit nervous about it....
In September, I had the pleasure of photographing a husband and wife photography team based in Ohio and their two precious daughters. It was the best shoot location - Magic Kingdom in Orlando! We had a great time, even in the hot Florida summer. I'm a huge fan of photographing life as it happens - and what a great thing to document your family's summer vacation at a theme park, a first haircut, or your kids favorite activities. Much better than "stand and say cheeses!", though those can be good, too. ;)
They are so cute and that was so much fun. I hope to do it again some day!
Xoxo,
Kallie

Smoothies - Part 5 - Raspberry-Nut
Happy Monday! This is the fifth and final smoothie recipe. It comes at a good time for me, as I have huge life transitions going on right now. I'm going to start blogging only once a week, which I'll hopefully be able to keep up with. We're headed to Thailand in just over a week, then David moves to Seattle, then the holidays, and then Tova and I will move. During this time, we're selling our house, our car, and getting rid of as many things as possible! There is so much to do!
The Raspberry-Nut Smoothie is an interesting mixture of tartness and creaminess. It takes me a sip or two for my taste buds to figure it out, and then I can't stop eating it. So good!
three-quarters cup soy milk
three-quarters cup frozen raspberries
half banana
one tablespoon natural almond butter
one tablespoon agave nectar (or honey)
one tablespoon flaxseed meal
Recipe altered from Real Simple Magazine.
My general smoothie guidelines:
-Try your best to use frozen foods instead of ice. Your smoothie won't get watery if it needs to sit, and it keeps better in the fridge when you have leftovers. A good rule of thumb for a great consistency is using half frozen items and half fresh items.
-Don't add sugar. If you must, use honey or agave nectar.
-Use fresh fruits and vegetables that are in season, buy everything else frozen.
-Always keep a good stash of frozen fruits in the freezer (I love Cascadian Farms). It's a terrible thing when all you want is a smoothie, but you're out of supplies!
Enjoy!

We're Moving to Seattle
I thought I would just jump into it with the title. It's true. We (me, my husband, our daughter, and KBP along with it) are moving completely across the country to Seattle, Washington.
We are very excited.
Here is a humorous FAQ that my husband wrote about the move: Moving!
And here is Tova's response after we found out David got his dream job and we are indeed moving:
What does this mean for KBP?
Well, if you're already booked, then it doesn't affect you.
If you were planning to book a session in Florida, be sure to do so as soon as possible for a session date before the end of January! When we move, I won't be booking any Florida sessions unless: A: You're planning to pay for travel; or B: We're already planning a trip back to the Sunshine State. I'll be making trips back periodically and will try to announce those dates as soon as possible. For example, I'll be back in June!
I am now taking bookings in the Pacific Northwest. So spread the news! I'm really excited about being in a new market, and look forward to starting new relationships there.
If you know people you think we should meet, have housing advice, or have tips for moving to Seattle, please don't hesitate to send them my way!
We are so thankful for the love and support we've received from our community about this big news. We can't wait to start this new adventure!

Smoothies - Part 4 - Strawberry-Flax
This is a yummy yogurt-based smoothie that I slightly altered from Real Simple magazine. I don't like yogurt, but my husband and daughter love this one. I use plain Oikos yogurt (we love Stonyfield products) and add in some fresh strawberries if they're in season. You can play around with yogurt flavors - vanilla would make it sweeter and less tart.
one cup frozen strawberries
half cup plain low-fat yogurt
half cup fresh orange juice
one tablespoon honey
one tablespoon flaxseed meal
My general smoothie guidelines:
-Try your best to use frozen foods instead of ice. Your smoothie won't get watery if it needs to sit, and it keeps better in the fridge when you have leftovers. A good rule of thumb for a great consistency is using half frozen items and half fresh items.
