France Day 5: La Cite, Carcassonne

On our fifth day in France, we drove from the Loire Valley to Carcassonne. We got lost trying to find our B&B for at least an hour, so we only had about two hours to explore La Cité (a medieval fortified city in southern France) before sunset. Our B&B, Ecuries du Saint Croix, was about a 15 minute walk from La Cité, amongst acres of vineyards.

In the picture above, left, be sure to notice the heads carved along the top of the cathedral. Some were human, and quite stern looking, and others were more like gargoyles or some weird cross breeds. It was pretty ominous.
